The author rewrote it slightly for Solar_View, and so did the Zend Framework guys to create Zend_View, so obviously Savant's simple design has some fans. You should have no trouble using any of these in projects, but the Zend_View may give you more active support if you need it (though once you "get" Savant you'll probably not need any support).
Or, if you're already using some framework, their view class might be yet another Savant clone, so you might as well use theirs.
